How To Not Let a Good Idea Go To waste
I have so many book ideas and they seem to increase the more I work and write. Simply looking at the amount of ideas I had used to paralyse me from working towards even one. “How on earth am I supposed to select the “best” idea to pursue?” Asks the voice in my head.
Then I realised, why not work on a few ideas a little at a time, every single day.
When I paint, I never paint one piece at a time. I always work on multiple pieces in case:
I get bored.
I get stuck.
I’m waiting for an area to dry.
I get tired.
If one or more of these would occur, then I would just move on to the next painting and come back to it when either, I or it was ready. I decided to transfer this methodology over to my writing.
Currently I have set myself the challenge to handwrite the first draft of a novel I’ve dreamt about for several yeas. The goal I set myself: Write at the very least 2 pages a day. This goal allows me the flexibility to work towards my other goals with the amount of time it frees up, whilst simultaneously reducing my stress levels as I no longer have an overwhelmingly ambitious page/word count goal each day. This is perfect as I am also working on my second poetry and prose book in a series entitled, Open Up Before I Self Destruct (which I will talk about very soon!).
So, if you too like me have an increasing list of ideas, try breaking a few down into mini tasks that you can work towards each day. Let’s together let no good idea go to waste!
